Remembrance Day Facts and Its Importance
Remembrance day is observed to pay our respects and gratitude and honor to the brave soldiers who fought in World War I. The United Kingdom, USA, Canada, commonwealth countries, and European countries are the front liners in observing Remembrance Day. It is observed by maintaining a two-minute silence on the 11th of November, sharp at 11:00 am, and on the 11th minute of the clock by everyone in the above-mentioned countries. The symbolism of these three eleven figures has its meaning to the historical event when World War I was finished and the bells of peace rang on Earth to declare peace, hope, and prosperity for the future.
In Britain, Canada, Australia, and France the day of November 11 is observed as Remembrance Day to honor all the sacrifices and bravery of the soldiers in the war and to pay our respects, it is mandatory to observe a two-minute silence on the 11th of November at 11 am and on the 11th minute of the Day.
The Origin of Remembrance Day:
The observance of Remembrance day first occurred in 1919 on the first anniversary of 1918 Armistice Day. In 1918 on 11th November, the Armistice was signed between Germany and the Allies to drop the weapons and end the war. That day was officially called Armistice Day and after one year it was changed to be called the official Remembrance Day.

In the United States of America, Remembrance day is called Veterans Day. The day is named Veteran day to honor the armed forces and the veterans of the war. Remembrance day is an official holiday in the United States.
In 1938, the 11th of November Remembrance day became an official holiday in the United States. In 1954, America changed the name of this day to Veterans Day in America, to honor all the soldiers who have served in all US wars.
Poppy Flower Symbol:
Poppy flowers are small red colored flowers that are used as a symbol to respect the soldiers who fought and died in World War I and II. The red poppies are used as a symbol because it was a poppy field that was the landscape on the western front field during the war. On Remembrance Day, the red poppy pin or flower is worn and shown on the shoulders as a symbol to observe Remembrance Day.
